Librarianship is the nerve centre of information for academic, research and developmental activites of the country. Agricultural librarianship has vital role to play providing and timely information sources and service to research workers, teachers, subject specialists, students, farmers, agribusiness organsiations and others who are actively engaged in meeting the continuing challenge of human being for food and hunger.

The present study, pioneering in nature, intends to survey the existing agricultural libraries and their infrastructure facilities; to identify various types of information facilities catering to the needs of agricultural education, research and extension activities, to study the infrastructure, management, staff services and resources of these information centres and libraries;  and information needs of various user groups concerned with the agricultural field and type of service required to meet them.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR P. Renuka

Dr. P. Renuka (b. 1961) is currently Lecturer in Library & Information Science, M.R. College (Autonomous), Vizianagaram. She holds M.A. (Sociology, Pub. Admn. & Philosophy) M.L.I.Sc. and Ph.D. in Lib. & Information Science Besides a P G Diploma in Library Automation and Networking. She has attended many refresher courses, seminars, symposia/ workshops where she presented learned papers. This book is her major published work.
