Health and Education are the most important factors influencing the overall quality of life enjoyed by the people in an area, region and country. The social infrastructure critical for improving human development index, includes education, health care, nutrition, sanitation, etc. The theme of this book titled, ‘Community Health Care’, is to focus on health care as an indispensable part of socio-economic development of the people, especially in the developing countries like India. The challenges posed by illiteracy, ignorance, poverty and squalor make it a daunting task to realize the goal of ‘Health For All’ espoused by the World Health Organisation (WHO). This work is based on eleven research studies conducted by the author to evaluate various aspects of community health care. The research studies demonstrate lack of adequate infrastructural facilities, equipment, medicines etc., in turn affecting the "availability" of health services. The studies also evaluate reactions of beneficiaries and community involvement in health system. The book has brought out the major challenges being faced by the health administration in the country and it is possible to design the system in a way as to remove these obstacles and bottlenecks to ensure efficient and effective health-care system.
