Based on the system of cooperatives, the Anand Pattern of dairy development (developed in the Gujarat state of India), has become internationally well known. Reported in the present monograph is an exploratory study that examines the prospects and constraints of the replication of the Anand Pattern in the Rajasthan state of the country, particularly the arid and semi-arid areas of Western Rajasthan. Against the backdrop of the specific agro-climatic and ecological conditions of this region and its socio-economic setup, the study examines the replication of the model in terms of its implementation, organization and institutional framework—making use of a variety of secondary data.
