This book offers a selection of over 20 scientific and technical papers presented at different conferences and workshops organised by the Institution of Engineers (India), during the last few years. Authors of these selected articles are nationally well-known engineers and some of them have international standing. On the whole, the book reflects upon the R & D work carried out in the country in the field of rehabilitation and retrofitting of structures. The text of each paper is aptly illustrated and appended with a list of references for further reading. For the convenience of the user, the papers have been classified and placed in the book under 6 thematic sections: General; Buildings; Heritage Structures; Irrigation Structures; Bridges; and Marine Structures.
