Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy is a new book which describes in detail the aspects of pharmacy and incorporates the basic principles of clinical paharmacy needed for undergraduate and postgraduate students of pharmacy. Both these aspects have become very important in the changing global scenario of drug discovery and the role of pharmacist in clinical pharmacy. Hospital pharmacies provide support to a variable degree in different ambulatory settings (clinics, nursing homes, adult daycare) but the precise nature of clinical pharmacists activities in these setting is not uniformly characterized. Clinical pharmacists may participate in all stages of the medication use process, including drug ordering, transcribing, dispensing, administering and monitoring. The specific activities of clinical pharmacists vary substantially in the studies reviewed in this book.
The clinical pharmacy aspect has been covered under a separate chapter. Several clinical problems have been mentioned as case studies. The book is expected to serve the needs of pharmaceutical sciences students in particular and also students of other related profession such as medicine, dentistry and nursing.
