An Attempt has been made in this book to understand the unique nature of Mauryan Society. Mauryan period is a glorious part of Ancient Indian history. For about a hundred thirty live years of their rule, Mauryan kings played a dominant role in the socio-economic and religious life of the people. It witnessed the two antagonistic motion of the society the ideological and materialistic changes-Most of the traditional institutions and practices were facing ardent opposition.
