"Women in 21st Century is a collection of thought provoking views of senior academicians and activists on the challenges and problems faced by women. The latest challenge to their status comes from the new economic policy & the consequent socio economic adjustments leading to marginalisation of women and problems like sex-tourism. The papers included in this volume are from the educators in social work, psychology, education, sociology, management and from the social activists. They are categorised as : women-current problems and issues; women under assault : current scene; working women : views and facts; and strategies and inputs. The paper by Smt. Usha Narayanan (lady vice-president) and introduction and epilogue by the editor cover the gap in presenting the global picture of women in our society. This book will serve as the text/reference for the students/scholars, activists, educators, dealing with and interested in studies and research in the area of women development, their empowerment and welfare."
