Drawn from the vast experiences of two organizations in environmental engineering and management, this 3 book set has been designed. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Australia and Lausitzer and Mitteldesche Bergbau- Verwaltungsesellschaft mbH. Germany (LMBV), STANDING FOR Lusatian and Central German Mining Administration Company Ltd, have contributed greatly to the growth of knowledge in the areas of both operation and closed mines and mining areas. Several offices, universities and institutes in both the countries, notable among them, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research Helmholtz-ZENTRUM FUR Umweltforschung-(UFZ), Divisions of Water and Soil Sciences, Germany and the UNIVERSITY OF New South Wales, Australia also contributed greatly to the effort. The book discusses the procedure, engineering and technology they use to mitigate the environmental challenges of mining and mining areas.
