This book presents the inside story of the Telangana Movement that developed due to historical reasons. It argues that the movement has brought forward the Telangana lower class’ response to the established cultural hegemony of the Andhra linguistic elite and affluent agrarian communities who monopolized the political power and economic resources.
It highlights that the movement voices the democratic yearnings of service castes, artisans, dalits and nomads who expressed aspirations for their due share in political power. It also provides deep insight into the regional question of Telangana in Andhra Pradesh, and emphasizes the need for further reorganization of Indian states.
