The 20 papers in this volume try to analyse the various aspects of cooperatives in India. Highlighting the need for global cooperative movement, they discuss at length the cooperative law in the country, cooperative management, and umbilical relationship between State and cooperatives.
Examining the role of cooperatives in mitigating food insecurity, the contributors also deal with the performance of women cooperatives, its role in women empowerment, sustainability of marketing business in cooperatives, excellency and transparency in management of dairy cooperatives, and cooperative governance.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR D. Joel Edwinraj
D. Joel Edwinraj, holds a degree in B.Com., M.A. and M.Phil., Cooperation from Bharathidasan University. Now he is working as Lecturer (SS) in the Department of Cooperation, T.B.M.L. College, Porayar. He organized one state level UGC seminar, and also edited a book on "New Dimension in Commerce, Banking and management". He produced ten M.Phils., from the department of cooperation.

Dr. S. Ramalingam got his M.Ed. degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He earned his Ph.D. from the same university.
