This compendium of 21 papers, presented at a seminar, jointly organized by the North Eastern Social Research Centre, Guwahati, and the Tribal Study Centre, Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, attempts to examine the various aspects of tribal theology.
Looking at the tribal communities in North East India from a Christian perspective, it addresses theoretical issues concerning the concept of God in tribal traditions, tribal identity and dignity, and the sacred and divine in tribal societies. It also deals with the various aspects of eco-theology and explains the relationship between the Divine, the humans and the nature as enshrined in different tribal traditions. Some suggestions for the development of tribal theology in North East India are given as well.
