With the passage of time there is a shift from the traditional mycology course to topics like biological aspect of fungi. Some even went ahead and coined a term, 'Mycobiology'. The relationship among groups of microorganisms in soil is particularly interesting, as many such associations exist in nature. Topics such as mycorrhizae, mycoparasitism, fungistasis. Microorganisms and host interactions have attracted much attention. This book is the outcome of the experiences and the work carried by author and his students in this area for the past 25 years. Predaceous fungi that live among other places in soil, where they capture and kill eelworms. They are some of the farmer's worst enemies and this activity is wholly laudible. Today we do not know to what extent these fungi help in keeping the number of eelworks under control in normal farming conditions, but they could become valuable allies. These eelworms cost the country several million rupees every year in damage to crops, any help that we could get would be welcomed. Apart from there potential value as nematode killers, the study is fascinating in itself. Taxonomically these fungi are diverse as they occur in Chytridiomycetes, Oomycetes, Zygomycetes, Deuteromycetes and Besidiomycetes. This book is full of photomonographs of various genera of these fungi taken by the author.
