The discipline of Market Pathology as a science had an early beginings, the technological aspects started in the nineteenth century, while most of the developments have taken place in present century. The subject has acquired significant importance on account of its association with diseases of perishables and their control so far as the publication of consolidated data is concerned, the subject is still in infancy. Dr. M. Mashkoor Alam is a Professor in the Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh (U.P.). he has edited many books/bibliographies, book chapters/reviews, popular and other articles and about 200 research articles in journals of repute. He is editing two scientific journals: Afro-Asian Journal of Nematology (England) and Afro-Asian Nematology Network (India). Prof. Alam has been awarded “Prof. Hira Lal Chakravarti Award†(Presented by the Prime Minister of India). “Distinguished Service Award†(from an International Society), “Scientist of the Year Awardâ€, Fellow of Indian Phytopathological Society (FPSI) and Indian Botanical Society (FBS), and “Award for Excellence in Book Production†for his book “Nematode Biocontrol: Aspects and Prospects.

Dr. (Mrs.) Neeta Sharma, Lecturer in the Department of Botany, University of Lucknow, Lucknow (U.P.) is an active and dedicated researcher in the arena of Plant Pathology of fruits and vegetables. She has a brilliant academic record and written several papers in scientific periodicals of national and International repute. She contributed many review chapters to some of the important publications on the subject. In addition, credit goes to her for writing many popular science articles which have appeared in leading news-papers and renowned magazines. An outstanding teacher and an enthusiastic scientist Dr. Sharma is an active member of several scientific societies of India. She is fellow of pathological society of India and Bioved Research Society. Currently she is on the editorial Board of Bioved.
