Indian Women: Past & Present

This work presents an overview of the status of women in India over time and their condition today. It focuses on development and emancipation of women through provision of education to them and their educational leadership. It views issues and prospects involving the women workers, nature of growth and achievements and prospects of empowerment of women, development of female entrepreneurs and the contributions of women in different fields like in literature. A comprehensive study, it comments on the status of the aged women in India, the position of women in Panchayati Raj bodies and social problems of Indian women like female foeticide and sexual harassment. It is concerned with study of women of specific communities like the status of Bodo women and role of mountain women in environmental protection.
