A vast number of indigenous trees along with few exotic ones which have adapted themselves to Indian climate have been described with their full taxonomy, common English and Hindi names, their general pattern of growth and flowering period. The usefulness of the tree component parts, the bark, leaves, roots, fruit or timber has also been given in addition to their method of propagation and the religious susceptibilities attached to some trees. An index to the Hindi and common English names is also given at the end. In all 234 tree species have been described with full coloured illustrations.
