This compendium of 23 papers, presented at an international seminar, organized by the Department of Political Science, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand, attempts to analyse the contours of India-China relations in the present era, with special focus on opportunities, obstacles and outlooks.
Explaining the conceptual issues, it discusses at length the implications of US policy towards Asia-Pacific for India-China relations, Indo-US security interactions in Asia-Pacific, the impact of China-Pakistan relations on Indian security, the issue of Tibet, and India’s economic ties with China. It also addresses some other key issues like water, sea power, trade and space.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Annpurna Nautiyal
Dr. (Mrs.) annpurna Nautiyal is a Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttaranchal. Her area of interest is international relations but she has a keen interest in the regional and national issues also particularly problem of women empowerment in the hill areas. She is a widely traveled person. She has published several articles in reputed journals. Professor Nautiyal has authored/edited four books which include: The Role of Henry Kissinger in world Politics, India in the New World Order, Uttarakhand in Turmoil and Fifty Years of Human Rights: Expectations and Challenges.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Chintamani Mahapatra
Chintamani Mahapatra is currently Associate Professor of American Studies at the school of International Studies of Jawaharlala Nehru University, New Delhi. Previously he was research fellow at the Indian Institute for defence Studies and Analyses. Mahapatra was a Fulbright Scholar at the university of Delaware, USA Commonwealth Scholar at the university of London, Foreign Policy Fellow at university of Maryland, USA, Salzburg Seminar fellow in Austria and a Visiting fellow at the Australian defence Studies Centre, Canberra. He frequently gives lectures at Society for International Law and Diplomacy, national Defence College, Army War College, College of naval warfare, and various Academic Staff Colleges in India. He has several academic publications in India and abroad. He has authored two books, contributed chapters to above twenty edited volumes and has published above fifty articles in reputed national and international journals. He is a regular contributor to various newspapers and also a commentator on All India Radio and various TV Channels on international affairs.
