Nuclear tests conducted by India recently as a deterrent meant only for self-defence created a lot of confusion regarding nuclear disarmament policy initiated by the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and followed by the successive Prime Ministers and the present government led by Atal Behari Vajpayee. The Documents on India’s Nuclear Disarmament Policy is an attempt to compile authentic and comprehensive published documents and other authoritative information on the subject–nuclear disarmament policy. The study, divided into three volumes, presents the text of important documents including the publications of the government of India and the United Nations, etc. It is equipped with speeches, resolutions, proposal, treaties, agreements, letters, reports and recommendations made for nuclear-weapons free world from Nehru to Vajpayee period.
