The present set in two volumes is the first indepth examination of determinants of nutritional status of the young children in Rajasthan through both qualitative and quantitative data. It makes a unique contribution by highlighting area specific problems and generating practical solutions. The first volume is a detailed description of nutritional status of children between the ages one to nine years in Rajasthan. At the macro level it examines the ecological, familial and individual factors affecting nutritional status. At the micro level it delves into less perceptible, yet subtly existent, gender biases in food distribution, health care and education provided to, and activity patterns of boys and girls. The second volume is an outcome of the survey for Bal-Poshan project (ICDS), Rajasthan. It highlights the health and nutritional status of 0-3 year old children. This volume also documents the utilisation of ICDS services by children below three years of age.
