This book seeks to examine the various aspects related to armed conflicts in South Asia, taking both inter-state and intra-state actors into account. It addresses three major security aspects in the region—armed conflict, peace audit and early warning—and evaluates the gap between the end of violence and the response to peace, assessing whether peace processes are fragile in the region.
Highlighting the early warning of impending armed conflicts, it also permits the placement of ameliorative measures for dealing with such a situation from a law and order perspective.

D. Suba Chandran is Assistant Director at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS), New Delhi. P.R. Chari, former member of the Indian Administrative Services, has held several important positions including Additional Secretary, Ministry off Defence and Director, Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses. He was International Fellow, Centre for International Affairs, Harvard University, and is currently Director of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS). He has worked extensively on nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and Indian defence issues and is the author of many distinguished publications.
