Latin America, The Caribbean and India: Promise and Challenge

Pointing out that Latin America and the Caribbean are regions least familiar to India, the book examines the historical developments and political, economic and social movements of the regions and their ties with India at various levels—political, economic, commercial, cultural and so on. It discusses their resource endowments, growth rates and social policies which are seen as causes for their being stable regimes. It explores the regional integration in the two regions, including their alliances and agreements with other continents/regions. It examines how these regions and India can forge an effective and fruitful relationship and particularly the potential of doing business with the regions vis-à-vis investments, energy and other areas. It bears reference to reports of international institutions, political developments in the thirty-three nations of the regions, and proceedings of summits and other meetings.
