The book "Crop Diversification for Sustainable Agriculture" contains an analytical study of the economic and environmental aspects of changing cropping pattern. The focus of the study is on crop diversification, area response and yield response of crops, real and monetary growth of crop output, economic and environmental consequences and sustainability of the agrarian economy. Primary data were collected from the selected farmers. Secondary time series and cross section data were collected from various published data sources. Important analytical tools like Herfindahl index, supply response models, compound growth rate, decomposition model, Divisia-Tornqvist index, etc were used for data analysis. The main challenges to the sustainability of the agricultural production system like land degradation; groundwater depletion; chemical pollution; food security; etc were also examined in the book. Sustainable Agriculture is an important pathway towards Sustainable Development. In recent years the policy makers have given higher priority to it and this book also examined several important aspects related to the sustainability of the agricultural sector. It can be extremely useful to agricultural planners, policy makers, teachers and researchers engaged in the study of problems related to cropping pattern change in the agrarian economy of our country.
