This Edition of Sankaranarayana’s English-Telugu Dictionary is the second edition published after the lamented death of the author; this edition has been thoroughly revised and enlarged. The lexicons of the author are so well-known to the Telugu public and have become so indispensable in the Telugu country that any recommendation looks superfluous. The English-Telugu Dictionary published for the first time nearly thirty years ago passed through five editions during the life-time of the author. Every new edition was an improvement both in quality and quantity and each time the author had endeavoured to bring the book up-to-date. The Telugu country had sustained no little loss in the death of that great scholar, the author, who if he were alive, would have brought his work to perfection.
