It is a catalogue of exquisite works of art from the Himalayas, selected for auction, from the fabulous collection of Roshan Sabavala (1918-92). A too well familiar name in the cultural domain of India, particularly Mumbai, Roshan Sabavala not only inherited the impulse to collect Himalayan art from her celebrated predecessors, she happened to be the last of the Parsi collectors, though not the least in her obsession. She voraciously acquired works from Tibet: metal statues, thankas, and ritual objects; charming stone sculpture from Kashmir; fascinating metal images from Northeast India; and a few objects from Nepal – in all having over 300 objects in her collection. The catalogue showcases a range of the stunning objects that were on display for auction in December 2014, in Mumbai.
