Afghanistan: The Failed State

This book presents a brief account of historical, geographical, socio-cultural and economic perspectives of Afghanistan and analyses the factors responsible for its failure. Spelling out the efforts that the international community has taken to restore Afghanistan post-Soviet withdrawal, it pinpoints the gaps in those efforts that have led it to the present status.

It further examines the possible effects after the withdrawal of the NATO forces from Afghanistan post-2014 and points out the possible way ahead to stabilize Afghanistan. It argues that the world now should think of ‘collective survival’ rather than ‘collective security’ or ‘collective defence’ as the conflicts against non-state actors have taken gigantic proportions and it hurts the entire world community.
