The book intends to fulfill the long felt expectations of students, extension professionals, teachers and researchers in Extension Education and Rural Development, Accordingly, the contents are presented in ten chapters. The specific subject areas of Sociology, Educational Psychology and Social Psychology as applied in Extension Education have been covered in the first two chapters.
The other significant issues of Rural Development such as people’s participation, extension methods and Av aids, communication process, innovation- decision process, cyber extension, programme planning and evaluation and human resource development have been given due weightage and spread through different chapters with an eye in exposing the know-how to the intended receivers.
Adequate care has also been taken to incorporate the new initiatives in Rural Development such as SHGs, NGOs, Andragogics, Educational Technology, Experimental Learning, Organisational Communication, Farmer-lead Extension, Extension Systems etc.
