The book is a comprehensive work in the field of values. Special references have been made to the provisions of the National Policy on Education, 1986. This book consists of seven chapters. Chapter I provides the theoretical orientation of the study. The II chapter throws light on the bases of value development. In chapter III, efforts have been made to review the literature pertaining to the study from various sources. Chapter IV highlights the context of the study. Chapter V consists of the research design and methodology adopted for the study, while chapter VI presents its analysis and interpretation. In the last chapter findings and conclusions are drawn out of the study; the results of the study are discussed and implications together with suggestions are made. This book seeks to serve the needs and requirements of students, scholars, teachers and educational planners.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR B.C. Mishra
Dr. Brundaban Chandra Mishra (b. 1956) after doing his post graduation in Education obtained his M.Phil. (Education) and Ph.D. (Education) from Kurukshetra University. At present, he is working as a senior lecturer in Education, D.P.I.A.S.E., Berhampur. He has contributed numerous research papers in the journals of national repute. He is actively engaged in research activities. Many scholars have received their doctorate degrees under his supervision. He has completed a number of research projects financed by N.C.E.R.T., and S.R.C., Orissa. Dr. Mishra’s areas of interest include, besides the present one, Adult and Continuing Education, Teacher Education, Non-formal Education, Tribal Education and Special Education. He is one of the state level key persons in Non-formal Education. His other books are: Education of Tribal Children & Qualitative Education for Tribals: Agenda and Problem.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar Patro (b. 1963) presently working as a lecturer in Education, Chikiti Mahavidyalaya, District Ganjam (Orissa) holds the degrees of M.A. (Economics), M.Ed., and Ph.D., (Education) from Berhampur University. Dr. Patro has a long standing teaching experience. He is actively engaged in research activities.
