Islam is a misunderstood religion. It is widely criticised by those, who have little or no knowledge about Islam, the faith, its teachings and its philosophy. People may wonder to hear that Islam is a progressive religion, which was first to confer fundamental rights on all the human beings and which advocated for the equality of men, women, on all basis. It opposed all discrimination, be that of caste, creed or faith. The concept of human rights is relatively newer and a modern one. Several hundred years ago, nobody in the west knew about this. But, Islam, had bestowed all rights -based on humanity- fifteen centuries ago, on Muslims and non-Muslims alike, at the time of its advent.
