This book is an outcome of the Book Writing Project awarded by the UGC to the author under its scheme of ‘Preparation of University Level Books by Indian Authors’. The book has been written in very simple and easily understandable language and in short avoiding too much mathematics, which makes the text difficult for the beginners. It has been written for an average student interested to learn and participate in the debate going on among economists and the policy menu suggested by them for macro economic problems facing the country. This book bridges the gap of not having a simple textbook with the latest information. Candidates appearing for competitive examinations may also use this book as their basic text. Student will be able to identify the specific school of thought from which the policy menu has been suggested. Dr. M.K. Ghadoliya is Professor and Head, Department of Economics at Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University, Kota (Raj.). Dr. Ghadoliya has keen interest in writing for students.
