A Tale of Two Economies

The book attempts to make a comparative analysis of the development dynamics of India and Malaysia with reference to resource mobilization from the rural and the rest-of-the-world sectors, and also resource generation and utilization by the urban sector. The interactive influences of the rural and urban sectors, together with their class equations are taken as the epistemic basis for explaining the resource-use efficiency and the development dynamics of these two countries. The basic objective of the present study is to analyze the development processes of India and Malaysia so that the real issues as to why growth rate differs can perhaps be identified and properly appreciated. Such a study is intriguing in view of the fact the economic distance between these two nations has gradually intensified over the years although they started with almost similar type of colonial legacy.
