This survey, like its predecessors, has brought out several areas of geographic research which have been attended to well by the scholars of the subject, and also areas which have remained neglected. It is hoped that not only the remaining gaps will be filled up in the years to come, if not already done, but scholars will also attend to the newly emerging geographic problems in the fast changing world. In fact, it is a challenging task to grapple with the increasingly complex issues relating to world’s areas and people in the context of advancing technologies, speedly changing inter and intra-regional relationships and rising human aspirations. It has become difficult to solve even elementary problems of the world and of humanity within the confines of the single discipline. Determined efforts are needed to evolve inter-disciplinary strategies to gain better understanding of the problems and resolve them.
