Indo-Nepal economic relations have been unique and unparalleled. Geography, history and culture have influenced Indo-Nepal economic relations. India has been the major trade partner of Nepal. This book attempts to study Indo-Nepal economic relations since 1950 to 1997-98. Indo Nepal Trade treaties have been analysed and changing composition of Indo-Nepal has been examined. Details of investment policy of Nepal, 1992 and factors behind low investment in Nepal have been looked into and composition of Indian investment in Nepal has been furnished. Nepal is gaining significance as tourist destination but it can attract many more tourists provided various problems faced by Indian tourists are sorted out. The same have been highlighted and suggestions for further improvement in tourist facilities to tap the untapped potential of Nepal have been put forward. India has a preferential trading regime with Nepal and concessions extended bilaterally are deeper compared to those extended within the SAPTA framework for Nepal. Nepal has requested for accession to WTO. Once it becomes a member of WTO, it will have certain implications for Indo-Nepal relations. Both the countries will have to carefully chalk out the future line of action to preserve special trade regime between India and Nepal. Indo-Nepal relations can reach new heights in the new millennium. The book has come out with suggestions for the same.
