No specific book has so far been written which deals with law and justice particularly touching Indian Oriental Philosophy. In this book, the author has attempted to present the comparative legal philosophy of Hindu, Muslim and Chinese scholars and communist philosophy of Russia. Western Philosophy of Greek, Rome, British and American thinkers on the concept of law and justice has also been discussed in detail along with brief notes on the views of German, Australian and thinkers of other nations. This book highlights a complete picture of various faces and theories of law, justice and jurisprudence in the present setup of the society. The book is valuable as it provides a good exposure of oriental philosophy which has not received adequate attention of thinkers in both the eastern and western world.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Gokulesh Sharma
Dr. Gokulesh Sharma (b. 1956) was called to the bar in 1979; practiced as a trial court and appellate court lawyer in both criminal and civil sides. He joined Uttar Pradesh Judicial Services in 1984; so far decided about 38,000 criminal cases in eighteen year of service, a record in itself. Dr. Sharma is recipient of medals at Agra University, Agra, for the best student of LLB and LLM having stood first. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by the Faculty of Law (on Constitutional Topic), Agra University, Agra in the year 1991. He is doing, present, Dr. Litt. Work in the same faculty. Dr. Sharma had contributed many articles in journals and newspapers and has actively taken part in various conferences and seminars held on legal issues and problems. His another book ‘Indianization of Duties’, has just been published by Manas Publications.
