The US led war on terrorism, brought an important change in world events. While terrorism continued to manifest in different parts of the world, Iraq and North Korea issues threatened to disrupt global peace and stability. The US unveiled its doctrine of ‘pre-emption’ to deal with potential threats. “Axis of evilâ€, the term used by US President George Bush with reference to Iraq, Iran and North Korea, has become a part of our political lexicon. The United Nations Security council *UNSC) adopted the resolution 1441 giving search for Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in Iraq. Elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir peacefully despite terrorist threats. Indo-Pak tension rose considerably during the year 2002. The NSCS presents a collection of select documents of 2002 concerned with international relations, security and diplomatic relations. It is divided into two parts. Part One deals with India’s bilateral relations and also contains speeches/statements made by the Indian leaders. Part Two contains select international documents and speeches of international leaders. It is hoped that the book will be of reference value to policy makers, politicians, researchers, media persons and the students alike.
