ABOUT THE AUTHOR Alka Rani Upadhyay
Dr. Alka Rani Upadhyay did M.Sc., Environmental Science from Lucknow University and Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University under supervision of an eminent environmentalist Prof. B.D. Tripathi, Coordinator of Environmental Science. She worked for Sustainable eco-Development of an area surrounded by Vindhyan ranges affected by industrial (aluminium, pesticides, carbon) thermal power plants and coal mining activites. Her findings include biodiversity conservation and natural resource management in arid, semi-arid and humid climatic conditions. her innovative researches on waste water treatment using aquatic plants have been recognised by the scientists of national and international repute and adopted by numerous industrial organizationa. Dr. Alka is Technical Advisor, R & D of National Environmental Conservation Association of India.
