This book is a collection of papers presented in a Regional Meet on Entrepreneurship Development Programme for the Heads of the Departments and Senior Executives of the Organisations of North Eastern Region organized jointly by the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), New Delhi and National Institute of Small Industry Extension Training (NISIET), North East Regional Centre, Guwahati. The papers have been contributed by those who are intimately involved in planning an implementation of Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) in North Eastern Region. The papers examine the impact of EDP in developing entrepreneurship with particular reference to North Eastern Region and suggest an action strategy for promoting entrepreneurship in the region. In addition to the papers, there is a summary of the proceedings of the Meet and also of the papers. The book is expected to be an important contribution to the scanty literature on entrepreneurship development in the country.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR D.D. Mali

Dr. D.D. Mali (b. 1941) is the Director, India Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati. Before joining this Institute, he was working as the Director, National Institute of Small Industry Extension Training (NISIET), North East Regional Centre, which has since been merged with IIE with effect from 1st April, 1994. Earlier he was working as the Head of the Department of Economics, Sankardeve College, Shillong, Meghalaya. He has to his half a dozen books, a number of research reports and articles. He is the Director of the Board of Directors, Assam Small Industries Development Corporation; Member, governing Body, Assam Institute of Management and host of other organizations. He is a recognized guide for Ph.D. scholars. A number of scholars have already been awarded Ph.D. degrees under his guidance and a number of them are working under him.
