Women contributions are deeply embedded in our social culture system and have far reaching economic and overall development. Women, the major section of society can supplement their family income through various income generating activities. Knitting is one of the income generating activities adopted by female. The testing of mechanical and constructional parameters of blended fabrics have been explained in detail. The standardized method of dyeing juteacrylic blended fabrics have been listed which are based on the study conducted by the author. Consumer acceptability for woollenised and grey jute-acrylic blended garments and comparative cost analysis of both types of blended garments have been analyzed in the study by considering all related processes of fabric manufacturing. Kewa bata system for testing the knitted fabric have been covered systematically. An effort has been made to impart knowledge to the fashion designers, textile students and learners of industry whose main subjects may be spinning, weaving and knitting. This book can be of real service to them in their day to day problems of testing the textiles and for the production of quality products.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Krishna Khambra

Dr. Krishna Khambra is presently working as Associate Professor in the Clithing and Textiles at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. She passed her B.Sc. Home Science in 1977 from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and M.Sc. in Clothing and Tetiles from Punjab University Chandigarh. She was awarded Doctoral Degree in Textiles and Clothing from University of Delhi, New Delhi. She gained rich knowledge about rural women and their surroundings during working experience as District Extension Specialist (Home Science) in Hisar district. Dr. Khambra has number of artucle's and research publications to her credit. She has 24 years of experience for teaching to Graduate and Postgraduate level students. She has participated and presented papers in several national and international conferneces and seminars.
