Writing has always constituted a very important part of my life. Whether it is writing in journal, writing a short story, or a poem, it has always helped me express my feelings when no one else would be around to hear me out. Even while traveling all over the world, a journal would be the first thing on my list. I have traveled to different parts of the world and yet, I plan to travel and see more. I have been to Europe, Canada, America, Australia, Sri Lanka, Singapore and of-course, India to name a few. My trips to these places have taught me a lot. It has taught me of the various cultures, of the people, so many, and yet so few, and also many lessons, which I still continue to learn. A few of my poems are about women or girls. I wrote those because many people in this society, as modern as it has become, still consider women as the weaker sex and look down upon them as the inferior race. This never fails to bother me. So many organizations have come up, so much progress has been made for the equality of women, and as successful many have become, they still haven’t fully succeeded. Although female foeticide has been abolished and is punishable by law, people continue to practice it in secrecy. There are two poems, in this book, which are about a very dear friend of mine. And although he is no longer with us, the poems about him have always been the most read and admired poems, and I owe him and his family my thanks as well.
