Drug abuse is a poignant problem which is acquiring an epidemic proportion by engulfing the younger generation all over the world. No society or nation can claim to be free from this serious problem. Drug abuse per se is just not a problem of an individual or his/her family. It sparks off a host of complex problems which the society at large has to face. The book is an outcome of an empirical study carried out among the youth population of Delhi. The study analyses various causes of drug abuse and their effects on the behaviours of the individuals. Initially, a survey was conducted after developing a structured questionnaire. Data were collected from 1600 young students to explore the prevalence rate, and to find the causes of drug abuse behaviour. A comparative study was also made between the drug abusers and the non-abusers on some psycho-social characteristics. Based on sound methodology, this research has provided a fund of information which would be of immense value to the youth, parents, teachers and society alike. Researchers will also find this book as cogent and comprehensive.
