School performance of a child is influenced by a number of factors, some of which are personal to the individual while many others are located in the environment in which the learning takes place, i.e., school and family. Early beginning to knowledge originate within the family, which is further built on in the school. Thus family sets the stage for interactions and learning at school later. Families vary greatly in structure and functioning (thereby affecting children’s experiences differently), and given this diversity in family, the book "Family Environment and School Performance" is an attempt to understand the relationship of School focused Parent-Child interactions with regard to Cognitive Stimulation, Achievement Orientation, Recreational Orientation, Home Structure and Language Stimulation with School Performance of Children.
