Gill’s investigation of the Spatial Patterns of two neighbouring towns in the Punjab, Goraya and Nurmahal, has tremendous potential for sociologists, geographers and townplanners. His research into the historical backgrounds and development of the two towns, one a manufacturing center and the other a trading town, demonstrates how the caste class, and geographical elements combine together to segregate human beings and the economic activities from one another. With the increasing urbanization of the country books and studies such as Gill’s might most profitably be applied to understand the growth of the towns and to prevent the worst dangers of growing towns.
