ABOUT THE AUTHOR A R V Murthy
Born in 1961, in a tiny village, Arikere, in Kolar Dist. of Karnataka, Dr. A.R.V. Murthy is presently Principal of Gomantak Ayurveda College & Research Centre, Shiroda-Gao. He was graduated from Udupi Ayurveda College, Udupi, in 1983, got his postgraduate degree (M.D.) in Kaya-chikitsa, from the prestigious Banaras Hindu University in 1987, under the Supervision of Prof. R.H. Singh. He obtained his doctoral degree Ph.D., from Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati in 1999. He was deputed as Ayurveda consultant to SVIMS Tirupati, a Modern Super Speciality Hospital to take up collaborative research work in 1995 and has done research work on Stroke, Epilespsy and Ascites. He is also deeply involved in literary research on Vedic sciences in relation to Ayurveda at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati. Dr. Murthy visited Japan in Oct. 2000 as an invited speaker in the International Conference on Ayurveda held at Tokyo. He has extensively traveled in India and delivered over 100 guest lectures in different parts of the country. He has published around 50 research articles in listed Journals and participated in more than 30 National and International Seminars. He is member, on Board of Studies, and postgraduate examiner at various universities. He has won a gold medal and M.V. Sastry memorial prize and Nambier memorial award for his meritorious performances during the B.A.M.S. degree course. This book is author's first work though he has significantly contributed to two other books Principles of Ayurveda Therapeutics and Ayurvedic Clinical Medicine, published by Sadguru Publications, Delhi.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.H. Singh
Prof. Ram Harsh Singh born on Jan, 10th 1942 graduated in Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery from prestigious Banaras Hindu University in (1961), did Ph. D (1969) and D.Litt. (1982) under coveted supervision of Padamshri Prof. K N Udupa. He is Fellow of National Academy of Indian Medicine and was conferred the degree of Doctor of Medicine Honoris causa by Medicina Alternativa Alma Ata. Prof. Singh has produced 100 MDs and 35 Ph. Ds under is guidance. He has published 12 important books, 200 research papers in national journals. He is on editorial board of several National journals, is the Member of the National Commission of history of science and is the ‘Ratna Sadasya’ of National Academy of Ayurveda. Prof. Singh is the recipient of Hari Om Ashram, Jiwaka Award of Asian medicine and Pt. ram narain sharma best teachers Awards. He has widely traveled all over the world to promote Ayurveda globally. Prof. Singh joined the faculty of Ayurveda at BanarasHindu University in 1964 and servedb this prestigious institution for nearly four decades in the capacity of Lecturer, Reader, Professor, Head of the Deptt. andDean of the Faculty till 2003 after which he joined the newly launched Rajasthana Ayurveda University of Jodhpur as its first Vice-Chancellor. Prof. Singh although his career has been seriously engaged in revival and development of Ayurveda on scientific lines as an Evidence based system of Medicine.
