Despite the statutory provisions made in the Indian constitution and series of planned programmes, the problem of tribal development still remains unsolved, sometimes more complicated and controversial. The author has made a critical review of the history of tribal development in India since British period. The book involves an evaluative study of the development programmes among the tribal groups in West Bengal.
