In this age of science and technology, the world surely stands on the threshold of a global information and digital networking. People around the world, including those in developing nations are increasingly demanding access to the emerging world wide information network. Today, librarians, information scientists, service managers and academicians have a wide set of computer based solutions from which they can select the best mix of services to meet the needs of their customers and users. Now new terminology as the electronic libraries and digital libraries are much talked about and in use. In the present transitional phase, scientific and technological challenges the qualitative upgrading of the information services and libraries passes through the creation, the operation and the exploitation of the digital/virtual libraries. Digital library services are really in transition from local traditional collections to global resource sharing provided on demand through the most advanced networking technologies. The present research oriented publication digital library in two volumes will go a long way in providing in depth analysis and impact of digitization in libraries and their changing responsibilities in the present digital age.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.C. Dwivedi
Dr. S.C. Dwivedi, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, presently also holding the office of Associate Dean Students Welfare and International Students Advisory Bureau, University of Rajasthan. Dr. Dwivedi started his career with study on ecological, behavioural and toxicological aspects of Streptopelia decaocta leading to the degree of Ph.D. (18978) from the same University. Subsequently, evolving with time, he diversified the scope of his scientific pursuit and focused on the studies in Integrated Pest Management. Having supervised almost twenty Ph.D. students, his laboratory has developed an expertise on Storage Pests with special emphasis upon evaluation of various plant extracts for bio-control of Bruchids and other major stored grain insect pests. He has already published more than 100 research papers in various national and international journals. Dr. Dwivedi has also been contributing to research publications in capacity of member, Editorial Boards of Indian Journal of Environment and eco-planning and national Journal of Life Sciences. Dr. Dwivedi gas been intensively engaged in academic teaching and has experiences more than 36 years if undergraduate and 20 years of post-graduate teaching in the university if Rajasthan. He has also tried to share his rich experience of the subject, by his two text books dedicated to the undergraduate and post-graduate classes, respectively.
