China invaded Tibet in 1959, forced hundred thousand Tibetans to leave their country. In order to maintain their cultural identity they seek asylum in India. Since the socio-cultural environment was completely different what is found in Tibet, they faced lots of problems during their early days. As the time passed they settled themselves at various parts of country with the help of Indian government. Initially number of studies have been done on the subject of Tibetans related to the stress and strains they faced in setting themselves. This book provides an in-depth explainations how Tibetans after coming to India have been influenced by the new social, economic and political environment. A change in society comes as a foreign and unwanted agent, not necessarily of destruction, but of course of disturbance to the established system. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Monu Rani Gupta

Dr. Monu Rani Gupta born in Dehradudn (Uttaranchal) on 10th June. She completed her Post-Graduation from MKP (PG) College, (Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University) Dehradun and was awarded a Gold Medal for securing First Class Ist in MA (Sociology) in 1998. she received her Ph.D. in 2003. She is also a Post-Graduate in ‘English’ and ‘Political Science’ from HNB Garhwal University. Saying non-stop to studies she attained a masters degree in ‘Journalism & Mass Communication’ from Kurukshetra University. She has been writing articles for the cause of women welfare. She has also been associated with a newspaper as a investigative journalist.
