The present volume critically examines South Asian Canadian fiction in the light of personal narratives which give ethnic existence a ‘voice’ and create an awareness of the ‘different’ and the ‘other’. Through their narratives, the writers retrieve histories of their communities and fill up the gaps and silences in the meta-narratives of history. The psychological impact of changes in socio-politico-cultural contexts and the problematics of space, gender and memory are explored in an attempt to analyse immigrant experiences and understand the predicament of the migrant living on the periphery of two worlds. The volume also emphasizes the decentering of perspective to privilege the marginal. It vividly projects the changing patterns of intra-racial tensions.
