India’s untouchable saints played a vital role in socio-religious and cultural integration and transformation among the untoubables and Caste Hindus of India. But it pains us to record that the subject has remained a neglected field of study by sociologists, social anthropologists, cultural historians and other social scientists. In the present book the author presents a composite picture of the genesis and development of various sects on local, state and All India levels, socio-religious and cultural transformations among the low caste untouchables of Rajasthan, inter denominational inter actions among the high caste Hindu saints and untouchable saints, teachings and principles of various sects and significant recent trends of change visible among the followers of various sects. T he study is based on documentary sources, personal interviews. And participant observation. The book would be useful not only to sociologists, social anthropologists, cultural historian and other social scientists but in general Hindu Missionaries, the enlightened laymen and laity.
