This is a collection of speeches and writings by the author in a period of over five years, on Environmental issues in India with focus on sustainable development and relatable regional and international issues. The author has drawn upon nearly two decades of experience in these issues starting from his five years in Prime Ministers office from 1978 followed by spells as Secretary, Forests and Rural Development in Andhra Pradesh, Additional Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, Director General, CAPART and Secretary, Environment and Forests, Government of India. This has helped giving an insight into the process of evolution of thinking, policy and action in the formative years of Environment in India and as such should have some value to students, scholars, the four Estates and even lay public. The book deals with both ‘Brown’ and ‘Green’ issues in the field arranged in sections dealing with Policy, Forests, Environmental Awareness Education, conservation, Biodiversity, Environmental Management by Industry.
