This volume is an attempt to investigate the role which is played by self-orientation and group-orientation in group decision making task. The book is based on an important cross-cultural study involving participants from India (West Bengal) and Bangladesh. The study used on majority ethnic group i.e. Muslims in Bangladesh and Hindus in India (West Bengal). Interestingly enough no differences were found between Hindus and Muslims of India and Bangladesh on group decision making task in relation to social identity and anti ethnicity. But social identity was found as a factor in influencing the nature of group decision making. The study has raised some important questions about the mediation of culture in the process of group decision making. The book constitutes a milestone in the area of group decision, which provides empirical evidence of social identity and group membership in risk taking in small group decision making processes. Group membership boundaries determining self contractual and affect contemporaneous decision making has serious implications for several decision making situations of groups in business, industry, civil service, educational institutions, and in the area of management.
