This book entitled ‘Indo-Islamic Architecture Delhi & Agra’ contains a brief history of Islam, its advent in India, political history of Sultans of Delhi and Mughals, architectural and decorative elements and then it covers 32 monuments which were constructed in Delhi and Agra during the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal period. All these monuments have been photographically covered and described by the author giving background of the builders, plants, sizes, different views of the structures so that the readers can understand the monument in a better way. Some monuments of Delhi related to the Mughal Period i.e. Afsarwali Mosque & Tomb, Abdu’n Nabi Mosque, Jehangiri Mosque, Barber’s Tomb, Bara Batashewala Mahal and Chaunsath Khamb have already been described in the author’s earlier book entitled ‘Mughal Architecture of Delhi A Study of Mosques & Tombs’. In this book there two tables, 54 figures and 72 plates (33 colour and 39 black & white). Keeping in view the contents of this book, it will be helpful for the students pursuing their studies in this stream.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Praduman K. Sharma

Dr. Praduman Kumar Sharma (b. 20th January, 1960) did his Graduation in Arts from Punjab University, Masters in Arts (Medieval Indian History) from M.D. University, Rohtak and Ph.D. on the topic 'Mughal Architecture of Delhi - A Study of Mosques & Tombs (1556-1627)' from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. He is young, energetic and dedicated scholar and has also published some articles on Medieval Indian History in reputed newspapers, Sahara Magazines, etc. Presently, Dr. Sharma is working as Assistant Registrar (Academics) in the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation & Museology (Deemed to be University), Department of Culture, Govt. of India, C/o National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi - 110011
