Comparative Literature: Perspectives and Progression is the collection of fifteen research papers presented at International and National Conferences, Seminars and Symposia. Some of them have already appeared in print. It is not a mere sequel to Dr. Patil’s earlier scholarly book titled The Whirligig of Taste. It marks the progressive stage in his comparative thinking that leads to the multidimensional in-depth analysis of the texts as distinct cultural products. His novel approach not only to the poetics of literature but also to the politics of culture demonstrates how we need a new kind of comparative cultural criticism. The essays such as ‘The Bells in Postcolonial Indian Novels’, ‘The Locations of Diversity in the Unity of Culture in Fiction’, ‘Diversity in the Unity of Culture in Fiction’, ‘Dialogism and Cultural Identity in Three Novels’, ‘The Folkloric intertextuality in fiction’ etc., set a new trend in comparative studies today.
